The community of Riverview, New Brunswick, is mourning the loss of Todd Burgess, affectionately known by many as “Toddy Cruise,” who passed away following a courageous battle with cancer.
Burgess was widely known for his uplifting spirit and the encouragement he offered to those around him. Friends and colleagues say that even while facing his own health challenges, he remained a source of strength and positivity for others.
One colleague recalled the bond they formed after both faced personal health battles. According to the friend, Burgess often reached out to check in and offer encouragement, regularly reminding others to stay hopeful and keep fighting with positivity. Despite enduring some of the most difficult circumstances himself, Burgess continued to support those around him with compassion and resilience.
Burgess worked at Buddha Bear Coffee Roaster and Holy Whale Brewing Co. beginning in March 2022, where coworkers say he brought warmth, humor, and dedication to his role. His presence left a lasting impression on staff members and customers alike, many of whom remember him for his friendly demeanor and ability to brighten a room.
Outside of work, Burgess was a devoted son to Linda Burgess and a caring brother to Scott Burgess. He also maintained close connections with extended family members, including Krista Mike Cherry and others who held him dear.
Friends say Burgess lived life with passion and encouraged others to appreciate each day. In remembering him, many have reflected on his message of living fully and valuing what truly matters.
Todd Burgess leaves behind a legacy defined by courage, kindness, and a deep sense of community. Family members, friends, and colleagues say he will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.
